College Football Playoff Predictions, UGA Still the Top Dawg

The college football playoff is right around the corner. As time goes on the top teams are becoming obvious, let's take a look:


#1 Georgia looks like they haven’t skipped a beat from last season, as they haven’t had a close game yet. 

#2 Ohio State is still undefeated and might have the best offense in the country. There aren’t a lot of teams who can guard Marvin Harrison Jr, Julian Fleming, and Emeka Egbuka. If Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Treyveon Henderson can come back healthy, this team really could win the National Championship. 

#3 TCU has had an impressive season in the Big 12. After an impressive win at Texas with Arch Manning and many other 5-star Texas recruits and commits, TCU jumps Michigan in the CFP rankings. A high-scoring offense that hasn't backed down yet could make some noise in the playoffs. Upcoming games against Baylor and Iowa State aren’t easy wins and could test them right before the B12 Championship. 

#4 Tennessee fans thought it was looking like ‘98 until they got absolutely smashed by Georgia, but nonetheless, they still have one of the best offenses in the country. Beating Alabama will keep them ranked high in the CFP. I still do believe that Hendon Hooker IS the answer for this team.

#5 Michigan looked impressive again, just like last year. They are a run-heavy team that just punches every team they play in the mouth. But does that mean we're gonna see Harbough matched up with Kirby again (please no that sucked)? A weak schedule has not done them any favors and the only way we're going to see who they truly are is going to be when they play Ohio State. 

#6 USC brought in a ton of transfers, their roster is stacked with talent and they are consistently dropping 50 burgers on every team in the Pac-12. Lincoln Riley doesn’t have the best track record in the playoff, but he’s never had a QB like Caleb Williams. USC could make a run at this championship. 

#7 LSU. Brian Kelly has wholly turned around LSU and having them back in the college football playoff picture is awesome. LSU is back, and if they can run the table, they can make the CFP. The only thing holding them back is Brian Kelly’s record in the postseason. 

#2 Alabama. This is not the Alabama we are used to. 2 losses by week 10 might’ve pushed them out of the playoff any other year, but not this year. It’s an outside chance, the only shot they have is if they win out and win the SEC Championship assuming everyone ahead of them wins at least one more game. But I’m not gonna put anything past Saban and Bryce Young. 

#10 Clemson is 9-1 and has dominated the ACC this season, but close wins against Wake Forest and Florida State put in question if they're for real. The loss against Notre Dame hurts them a lot and is keeping them out of the CFP right now. 

Rounding out the top 10 in Utah. They’ve had a couple impressive wins, including against USC, but the only way I see them making the CFP is if they win the PAC-12, and I'm not sure that would even get them in for sure.

Courtesy of the Idaho Press  Eric McAlister was a 3-star prospect in the class of 2021 (0.8600 rating via 247Sports) from Azle, TX where he was named District Co-MVP in 2020. When he committed to Boise Stae he ranked as the 916th best recruit in the country and the 133rd ranked player in Texas.  McAlister redshirted his freshman year, but in 2022, he made his impact. Starting only two games, he registered 259 receiving yards on 11 catches and four touchdowns.  2023 was a different story. Averaging almost 19 yards per catch, McAlister has been dominating the Mountain West. Transfer Portal Watchlist: RB Deion Hankins

Photo Courtesy of Univerity of Texas at El Paso By: Bobby Cushing As a high school recruit Deion Hankins held offers from Arkansas, Oklahoma State, and Utah before eventually committing to UTEP. But after back-to-back losing seasons, Hankins has hit the transfer portal.  He was a member of the All Conference-USA FreshmanTeam in 2020 and the  All Conference-USA Second Team in 2022  Rushing for over 800 yards on 157 attempts (5.2 yards per carry) along with five touchdowns, Hankins contributed to a majority of the Miner's success on the ground this year.  While watching Hankins you can see he is a bruiser coming from the backfield, almost like a wrecking ball. Hankins looks for contact. Zappe Time?

No Mac, no problem? Not so fast, but Bailey Zappe could be a guy.  The Patriots fell victim to Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay on Sunday, 27-24 in overtime. All things considered, the game turned out much better than most Patriot fans expected with Mac Jones out. Brian Hoyer was slated to start and did until Isaiah Wynn decided to become a revolving door and let Rashan Gary blow up his shoulder.  In stepped Bailey Zappe, a fourth-round pick out of Western Kentucky. In his last season at WKU, he passed for over 5,900 yards and 62 touchdowns, which are both NCAA records.  Zappe overall played well over expectations, completing 10 of 15 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.  Much like Mac last year, Zappe was not given the opportunity to really let the ball fly.
