This prompted ESPN to start the debate of ‘Who is the next face of the NBA?’ Anthony Edwards, SGA, Luka, Wemby?  There’s one name that stands out a bit more than others. Jayson Tatum, it just makes sense. Outside of New York and Los Angeles, Boston is one of the biggest markets in sports. For someone to be the face of the NBA you have to be recognizable. That won’t be a problem with Tatum as the Celtics have one of the biggest fanbases in the NBA.   Luka Doncic, once again, remarkably outshined Devin Booker. Although they may not have been on the court together, Luka's magic has shocked us all, and “Oh yeah, Devin Booker had a good game too.” Devin Booker scored 63 points Friday night, shot 22/37, and went 6/12 from deep; in a loss against the Pacers. Luka Doncic, however, scored a career-high and the Maverick's single-game scoring record of 73 points…..take that Devin! Doncic shot 76% from the field including making eight of 13 from three. Not only did he drop a seventy-piece, he did it in a nail-biting win over the Atlanta Hawks, the team that traded him away for Trae Young on draft night back in 2018.  I am not here to undermine Devin Booker, sixty-three points is amazing and it should be celebrated. What?: Lofton, Thomas, Pritchard Headline NBA Stat Lines on the Final Day of the Season By: Bobby Cushing The final day of the NBA season: where star players sit and no names play like they're at their local YMCA.  The Celtics and the Hawks played yesterday, and both teams solidified in the playoffs. This game had combined ELEVEN players sitting out. Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Trae Young, Dejounte Murray, etc. all sitting out, which means players like Payton Pritchard, Sam Hauser, and Mike Muscala are the top-scoring options, which always leads to some fun basketball.  Let's take a look at some of the wild stat lines from the NBA, not top players: Kenny Lofton Jr. Memphis Grizzlies 42 Points 14 Rebounds 0 Assists Lofton was just called up from the G League due to the loss of Steven Adams for the year.   Daryl……… Embiid is not a starter over Tatum, Giannis, nor KD. There’s nothing that the fans would've voted for that would put him in the All Star Game as a starter.  Morey blamed the “shameless Boston media” for free throw merchant Joel Embiid not getting a starting slot.  What did he expect Boston fans to do, vote for a 76er? Daryl Morey has been in the league long enough to understand when your guy has been snubbed. Embiid is just not having the same level of season as the other three guys.  Tatum, Giannis and KD are all part of the top tier MVP conversation, with Tatum leading the way. Embiid hasn’t been mentioned in that conversation since early November.  Boston and Philly are one of the most bitter rivals.
