Luke Drops 73 and Outshines Devin Booker (Again)

 Luka Doncic, once again, remarkably outshined Devin Booker.


Although they may not have been on the court together, Luka's magic has shocked us all, and “Oh yeah, Devin Booker had a good game too.”


Devin Booker scored 63 points Friday night, shot 22/37, and went 6/12 from deep; in a loss against the Pacers.


Luka Doncic, however, scored a career-high and the Maverick's single-game scoring record of 73 points…..take that Devin!


Doncic shot 76% from the field including making eight of 13 from three. Not only did he drop a seventy-piece, he did it in a nail-biting win over the Atlanta Hawks, the team that traded him away for Trae Young on draft night back in 2018. 


I am not here to undermine Devin Booker, sixty-three points is amazing and it should be celebrated. It is just very funny that Devin Booker’s biggest rival managed to out-duel and overmatch his performance, AGAIN.

Ever since this image went viral from the 2022 Western Conference Semifinals, when the Suns were leading the series 3-2 until they were outscored 236-176 in the final two games, it seems like Devin Booker cannot get out from underneath the Luka Doncic umbrella. 


The back-and-forth pettiness and rivalry between Doncic and Booker has been “good for the sport” according to Booker himself.


Tensions grew high during game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals after Devin Booker fell to the ground and as he stayed down and said “the Luka special” to a nearby fan. 


Doncic followed that up saying “Everybody talk tough when they’re up,” as he walked to the locker room following that game 5 loss.


This was not the end of their trash-talking. In March of 2023, the Suns won a close game 130-126 in which the Mavericks had a chance to win at the end. As tradition at this point, Booker and Doncic started jawing at each other. 


In the post-game press conference, Doncic said “Just next time don’t wait till there’s three seconds left to talk.”


Although Booker might lead the head-to-head record by a healthy margin, in the brightest moments Luka always seems to outshine Booker. He is 2-0 against him on Christmas Day with an average win margin of over sixteen points. This includes this past Christmas when Doncic scored 50 points, he also racked up 16 dimes to go along with that.

Transfer Portal Watchlist: RB Deion Hankins

But after back-to-back losing seasons, Hankins has hit the transfer portal.  He was a member of the All Conference-USA FreshmanTeam in 2020 and the  All Conference-USA Second Team in 2022  Rushing for over 800 yards on 157 attempts (5.2 yards per carry) along with five touchdowns, Hankins contributed to a majority of the Miner's success on the ground this year.  While watching Hankins you can see he is a bruiser coming from the backfield, almost like a wrecking ball. Hankins looks for contact. Zappe Time?

No Mac, no problem? Not so fast, but Bailey Zappe could be a guy.  The Patriots fell victim to Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay on Sunday, 27-24 in overtime. All things considered, the game turned out much better than most Patriot fans expected with Mac Jones out. Brian Hoyer was slated to start and did until Isaiah Wynn decided to become a revolving door and let Rashan Gary blow up his shoulder.  In stepped Bailey Zappe, a fourth-round pick out of Western Kentucky. In his last season at WKU, he passed for over 5,900 yards and 62 touchdowns, which are both NCAA records.  Zappe overall played well over expectations, completing 10 of 15 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.  Much like Mac last year, Zappe was not given the opportunity to really let the ball fly.
