Who is the Best Quarterback in this Class

With a clear top 2 QB draft class, and a third candidate being hyped up by the media, it’s up to us to decide who is better: Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, or Will Levis


Let’s start with Bryce Young. Heisman winner, national champion, and one of the best Alabama QBs in recent memory. His great arm and high IQ decision-making made him almost unstoppable in the SEC with the talent Bama had on offense. The biggest question is his size. 5’11”-6’ is not what NFL scouts are looking for. Smaller sized guy, skinny as well. Is he going to be able to hold up in the NFL when we see guys like Kyler Murray and Lamar Jackson struggling to stay healthy in their careers? If he goes number 1 to the Texans is he going to be able to stay healthy with that offensive line, will he be able to have success throwing to Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins? 


Well, what about CJ Stroud?

The Ohio State Buckeye had a phenomenal season, finishing as a Heisman finalist and making the college football playoff. His performance against reigning national champions Georgia Bulldogs in the semi-finals on New Year’s Eve only boosted his draft stock. He showed that he can use his legs to escape pressure and create more time to go alongside his rocket arm. With good size and skill set, I believe he is the number one quarterback and should be the first player selected in the 2023 NFL Draft.


We can talk about Will Levis if we HAVE to as well.

I do not understand the hype around the former Nittany Lion and Kentucky Wildcat quarterback. He didn’t play for two seasons at Penn State and then when he transferred away to Kentucky he did not shock everyone the way he thought he might. He never had a great season at Kentucky, throwing for less than 3,000 yards and less than 25 TDs, and over 10 interceptions in each season. Scouts love the system he is in. A pro-style offense would benefit a prospect preparing for the next level, but you have to show off a lot of talent to make your case for the top pick in the draft and I have not seen that from Levis. The best video that keeps getting passed around of Levis is when he is making throws in a practice environment, all I will say is how did that go for Zach Wilson.

Will Levis - Round 2-3 - Raiders, Panthers, Titans

When he committed to Boise Stae he ranked as the 916th best recruit in the country and the 133rd ranked player in Texas.  McAlister redshirted his freshman year, but in 2022, he made his impact. Transfer Portal Watchlist: RB Deion Hankins

But after back-to-back losing seasons, Hankins has hit the transfer portal.  He was a member of the All Conference-USA FreshmanTeam in 2020 and the  All Conference-USA Second Team in 2022  Rushing for over 800 yards on 157 attempts (5.2 yards per carry) along with five touchdowns, Hankins contributed to a majority of the Miner's success on the ground this year.  While watching Hankins you can see he is a bruiser coming from the backfield, almost like a wrecking ball. Hankins looks for contact. Zappe Time?

No Mac, no problem? Not so fast, but Bailey Zappe could be a guy.  The Patriots fell victim to Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay on Sunday, 27-24 in overtime. All things considered, the game turned out much better than most Patriot fans expected with Mac Jones out. Brian Hoyer was slated to start and did until Isaiah Wynn decided to become a revolving door and let Rashan Gary blow up his shoulder.  In stepped Bailey Zappe, a fourth-round pick out of Western Kentucky. In his last season at WKU, he passed for over 5,900 yards and 62 touchdowns, which are both NCAA records.  Zappe overall played well over expectations, completing 10 of 15 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.  Much like Mac last year, Zappe was not given the opportunity to really let the ball fly.
